Complete Your CE Requirements Today

All state-licensed mortgage loan originators must complete annual continuing education (CE) requirements in order to renew their NMLS mortgage license. For most states, the NMLS recommends that all CE is completed by the SMART deadline of December 6th to ensure all credits are submitted and approved in time for mortgage license renewal on January 1st. This is the date you should aim for.

If you miss the SMART deadline, the next target you’ll want to hit is the At-Risk-to-Miss deadline which is December 13th. This date allows you to complete your mortgage CE requirements still on time, but your credit hours may not be approved in time for a January 1st renewal.

In ALL states, you have until December 27th to complete your mortgage CE requirements. Be aware, that if you wait until then your license will not renew on January 1st and you will not be able to originate loans until your mortgage CE credits are submitted, approved and your license is renewed.

Several states have alternate recommended early deadlines that they suggest you target to ensure your renewal application gets processed by the December 27th deadline. Make sure you know the mortgage CE deadlines for ALL states you are licensed in so you don’t miss your renewal. View the table below for each state’s deadline. Those that are early are highlighted in green.
