Company earns high honors from marketing groups, healthcare recruitment association
BROOKFIELD, Wis. — OnCourse Learning was honored in July with nine awards in three competitions that recognize superior marketing and media content projects.
“Our engaging professional education course content has long been a strength of our company,” said Patrick Sheahan, president and CEO of OnCourse Learning. “To see the content from our marketing team and subject matter experts get recognized is truly rewarding.”
The company earned the top honor possible from the APEX Awards, the National Association for Healthcare Recruitment and the Association for Marketing and Communications Professionals.
OnCourse Learning was one of only 7% of entrants to win a Grand Award in the 2018 APEX competition for print, online, electronic and social media projects. OnCourse Learning was honored in Design & Illustration for Best Ads/Advertorial for the Nurse.com online article, “1 in 3 U.S. families are in diaper need.”
APEX handed out only 100 Grand Awards this year among more than 1,400 entries.
The content was sponsored by Huggies® Brand, Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
“One in three U.S. families are unable to provide fresh, clean diapers for their babies, an issue nurses see nearly every day in their work,” said Aric Melzl, general manager of Huggies Healthcare. “By providing nurses with ways to alleviate diaper need, both in and out of the hospital, we are helping ensure every baby and their families are armed with the tools and resources they need to thrive.”

APEX also honored OnCourse Learning with two Awards of Excellence for its “How to Navigate Nursing Ethics” digital guide (Electronic Publications category) and the Nurse.com blog post “New York Governor Signs BSN in 10 into Law for Nurses” (Best Single Blog Post).
Positive portrayal of nursing
At its annual conference, NAHCR awarded OnCourse Learning its 2018 Media Award for the most positive portrayal to the public of contributions made by healthcare professionals.
The winning entry was Nurse.com by OnCourse Learning’s digital publication, “DAISY Brings Meaningful Recognition to Nurses.”
Along with highlighting the DAISY Foundation’s recognition of nurses for passionate and skillful care, OnCourse Learning donated $2,000 to DAISY. The donation helped support DAISY’s nurse-led research projects program.
International marketing competition
OnCourse Learning won three Platinum Awards, the highest honor given by AMCP in its international dotCOMM Awards.
The Platinum Awards for content marketing were achieved for the following projects:
- An infographic detailing OnCourse Learning’s Real Estate Education and Networking Study
- The webinar “How Financial Institutions Serve as Frontline Defense in Human Trafficking Detection”
- The Your Nursing Recruitment Source blog
OnCourse Learning received honorable mention honors in Earned Media, Article or News Placement for home inspection training expert Chris Chirafisi’s article “What you need to know about radon if you’re buying or selling a home,” which was published by the Arizona Republic newspaper. In the Video for the Web, Instructional category, the company won honorable mention for the real estate professional development course series, “Stigmatized Properties.”
OnCourse Learning was a finalist in two categories in the annual Content Marketing Awards, presented by the Content Marketing Institute.
OnCourse Learning’s Nurse.com blog was a finalist in the Best Multi-Author Blog category. The digital publication, “How to Navigate Nursing Ethics,” earned finalist recognition for Best Healthcare/Medical Publication.
