Vialpando reviews how technology streamlines tribal casino employee onboarding, training

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — David Vialpando, director of gaming programs for OnCourse Learning Financial Services, will review how technology has evolved to help casinos successfully onboard new employees, track compliance training and mitigate risk during the keynote address for the Wisconsin Gaming Regulators Association Annual Conference. The keynote is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 15 during the networking reception and dinner at the Oneida Bingo & Casino Conference Center in Green Bay, Wis.

“With his experience, we are confident David can provide insight on all aspects of regulations, the evolution of gaming technology and the benefits of the OnCourse Learning product,” said WGRA Conference Committee Member and Executive Board Member Ken George Jr.

About 200 regulators from 11 Wisconsin tribal casinos and several Midwestern tribal casinos will be in attendance for the keynote presentation. The location of the networking reception, dinner and keynote will be determined and announced June 15 during the conference, according to George.

“I’m honored to provide the keynote address to this year’s WGRA annual conference,” Vialpando said. “I can speak to the importance of proper employee onboarding, and the need for regular risk assessment and compliance training in the tribal gaming space.

“Proper onboarding and training throughout an employee’s career can impact a casino’s bottom line,” Vialpando said. “It’s important to understand that effective onboarding empowers employees to maximize their contributions to the organization and improves employee retention, while regular training ensures the employee’s focus is on customer satisfaction and risk mitigation.”

I-Gaming Track talk on jurisdictional issues

Vialpando also is scheduled to discuss jurisdictional issues and the importance of being compliant with state and federal gaming requirements at 1:35 p.m. June 15. His presentation, “Internet Gaming – Taking the First Step,” will be part of the conference’s I-Gaming Track in the Michigan Room at the Oneida Bingo & Casino Conference Center.

“My presentation reviews the nuts and bolts of Internet gaming,” said Vialpando, who also serves as the chairman of the California-based Santa Ysabel Tribal Gaming Commission.

To ensure Wisconsin regulators are up to date on the latest gaming protocols, Vialpando will cover the following components:

  • Platform vetting and system design review
  • Financial transaction system review
  • Knowing your customer and geo-location protocols
  • Assessing jurisdictional standards
  • Responsible gambling protocols
  • Accountability and integrity system integration

“I’d like regulators to understand the enormity of the responsibility they have for knowing what’s permitted from a legal standpoint,” Vialpando said. “The potential ramifications for mistakes can be tremendous, so we want to be sure to get it right from the very start.
