4 Steps to getting your Broker License in Oregon
- Apply for a real estate broker license
- In order to apply for a broker license in Oregon, you must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
- Start the application process by registering for an account on the Oregon Real Estate Agency eLicense website.
- Once you have your account in eLicense, sign in and apply for a broker license. You'll need to pay a $300 nonrefundable application fee. An Applicant ID number will be sent to your email address.
- Complete 150 hours of broker education
- The required new-license education (sometimes called pre-license education) must be provided by a real estate school approved in Oregon, such as OnCourse Learning Real Estate (formerly ProSchools).
- The OnCourse Learning Real Estate courses provide everything you need to fulfill the education requirements and succeed as a real estate agent. The courses cover topics in Property Management, Finance, Law, Contracts, and more. The course packages also include a comprehensive review, test-taking tips, and flashcards.
- You will provide your Applicant ID (from step 1) and full name to the school. When you've successfully completed the courses, your information will be automatically sent to the state electonrically, allowing you to take the broker license exam.
- Although optional, we also recommended you take the Oregon Real Estate Prep xL course that provides additional training and simulations specifically for the real estate exam and a guarantee that you will pass the first time.
- Pass the broker license exam
- When you're ready, schedule your broker license exam at a PSI testing center on their website or by calling (833) 892-5441. There is a $75 examination fee.
- The test consists of two portions: a 50-question state portion (75 minutes to complete) and an 80-question national portion (120 minutes to complete).
- While at the PSI testing center, you will be fingerprinted for a background check. The fee is $56.25 paid at the site via Visa, MasterCard, money order, cashier's check, or company check.
- Pass the Broker National and Broker State portions of the exam.
- Select a principal broker
- You must be affiliated with an active principal broker to work as a real estate broker in Oregon.
- After passing the exam, your principal broker will add your pending license to their business.
- Once your background check clears and the Oregon Real Estate Agency completes their final review, your new real estate broker license will be issued.
