Licensing Board/Commission: Louisiana Real Estate Commission (LREC)
Louisiana Real Estate Education Requirements:
- Louisiana real estate salesperson license: 90 hours pre-licensing education
- Louisiana real estate broker license in the state of Louisiana: 150 class hours (or equivalent)
- Louisiana requires an additional 45 hours of post-license education for real estate agents. These education hours need to be completed within 180 days after the initial license date.

Louisiana Real Estate does allow reciprocity
In order to make application for a reciprocal license, you must be a current legal resident and hold a license in one of the following states:
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Colorado
- Georgia
- Iowa
- Mississippi
- New Mexico
- Oklahoma
- Pennsylvania
The reciprocal application process in Louisiana is done on a license for a license basis, which means that you can only obtain the same license type that you currently hold in your resident state.

Louisiana Real Estate Continuing Education (CE) and License Renewal Requirements:
- Real estate professionals in Louisiana need to renew their licenses by December 31 annually
- Licensees must take 12 hours of real estate CE classes, including 8 hours of electives and the 4-hour core course on a specific topic updated annually
