OnCourse Learning Launches New Commercial and Consumer Lending Skills Courses, Credit Skills Diagnostic Assessments

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — OnCourse Learning, in partnership with Eensight, has launched new Commercial and Consumer Lending Training programs and a Credit Skills Diagnostic Assessment to help financial institutions save money.

Commercial Lending Training Program

This 10-module program equips lenders with comprehensive skills to analyze a commercial lending request and prepare a highly effective credit write-up. Modules are either two or three hours long. The self-paced program, which is web-based, emphasizes the competencies needed to identify, interpret and analyze risk.

It is designed specifically for commercial lenders, underwriting staff, relationship managers, portfolio managers and branch managers.

The entire program consists of 20 to 30 hours of training, depending on participant experience level. To aid the learning process, each module contains practice checkpoints and assessments, a printable reference guide and video clips.

Consumer Lending Training Program

The 10-module program provides learners with the core skills necessary to make sound credit decisions. It gives participants the skills to verify key information, understand consumer regulations, underwrite the loan, prepare the correct documentation and look for signs of fraudulent behavior.

It is designed for consumer lenders, underwriting staff, branch managers, assistant branch managers, operations staff and platform assistants.

The entire program consists of 14 to 18 hours of training. The courses include case studies, assessments and a printable reference guide.

Commercial and Consumer Credit Skills Diagnostic Assessment

“These assessments enable financial institutions to identify where the skills gaps are and focus training in the right areas to make the most effective use of training budgets,” Shively said. “The assessments will also improve onboarding of new employees and ensure all levels of credit employees hit the ground running.”

Designed for new employees, internal transfers in a lending or credit role or entire lending departments, the assessments measure the level of lending competency across an organization.

Through a series of topics and questions, the assessments provide a fast, affordable and quantifiable standard of proficiencies for financial analysis and risk mitigation.

Thomas Carlin, managing partner of Eensight, shared an example of how the assessments help companies.

“One institution we worked with wanted its employees to make better commercial and consumer lending decisions,” Carlin said. “After using these assessments to identify skills gaps, they ran targeted training using a combination of e-learning, classroom and webinars.
